What is dehydration?
Hydration simply means to hydrate, to take water into the body or to drink water. Dehydration indicates the lack of water in the body. It is recommended to drink 1 litre 1 / 2 a day per person.
The elderly and young children are often dependent on the services of others and most often they do not drink.
What signs indicate that your patient is dehydrated?
Vomiting, diarrhea, sweating and fever are signs of dehydration. Know that the more a person sweats, vomits, has diarrhea, the more that person déshydarte.
What should one do in such cases ? First: observation.
1) Observe if the person does drink regularly.
2) Observe whether the person has dry lips and dry mucous membranes.
3) Observe whether the person is confused or sort of Apatit.
4) Observe whether the person's skin is sort of craked.
5) Observe whether the urine of the patient is concentrated.
6) Observe if symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, sweating and fever are of frequent occurance in the person.
7) Having observed, share your information with the team of health personnel.
Second: Intervention
After you've observed and noted your observations, you must take some practical steps to help the patient. The following should be helpful in achieveing this goal.
1) You should Propose him to drink often.
2) You should vary the choice of drink you propose. Change your offer regularly. It could be beverages, coffee, water, juice, tea, etc.
3) You should create an acceptable presence. Drinking is more likely when two are discussing somewhat.
4) You should explain to him why it is necessary to drink. Thus avoiding the risk of dehydration and hospitalization.
5) You should verify the amount of water taken in. You may use a container or bottle, however, do not hesitate to mark on the bottle of water.
6) You should propose to drink with a duck, or straw or a spoon or by syringe if your patient has difficulty swallowing.
7) You should have a water record keeping entries and exits of water. IN-OUT.
8) You should, after all, provide your personal information to the responsable team of personnel.
